Way back in 2007, the design of my tram stop boards for Nottingham Tram were reviewed by the User Experience guru Cennydd Bowles (http://www.cennydd.co.uk/2007/information-design-of-the-nottingham-tram/). At the time he was very complimentary, describing my information design as “the Holy Grail of good information design”.
Fast forward to 2010 and I was asked by Nottingham tram to redesign the very same boards (originally designed in 2005, it was clearly time for a refresh!). I thought it would be interesting to approach Cennydd for his opinion on the new design.
So with a little trepidation, I sent him the new design to see how he felt it stood up to the original. Happily, he seemed to understand the restrictions of the brief and the design decisions taken.
