As part of improvements to the design of all their buses, Nottingham City Transport asked me to come of with a new livery for their “spare” buses; those that require generic branding so they can be used on any route, whilst buses are being maintained and serviced.
Their branded routes are very colourful and distinctive, so I had to find a way to incorporate those elements and all 11 colours, without being too garish. They also asked for a strapline that wasn’t too specific, a tricky brief!
However the silver bus with coloured swooshes has had positive feedback and definitely looks more part of the overall brand than the current plain white buses.
And funnily enough, not being too precise actually became an rhyming advantage for the strapline: “Takes you to town and around… swiftly, smoothly and for about a pound!”
